Why Summer is the Best Time to Replace Your Boiler?

If you're like most people you think about your boiler much less in the summer than you do in the winter. Right? This is natural as you tend to use it less in warmer months. But in this blog, our heating engineers explain why this less use might make summer the perfect time to have any work such as a boiler replacement or service carried out on your boiler.

Boiler Installations in Eastbourne, Hailsham & Bexhill
Why summer is the best time to install a new boiler?

A new boiler installation usually takes 1-3 days, and you don't want to be without heat during the winter. So, plan ahead of time and replace your boiler when you won't need it as much.

Furthermore, you may be able to save money on installation costs.

When should a boiler be replaced?

Your boiler should be replaced every 10 to 15 years. Even if it is still operational.

While it may still function, boilers lose efficiency over time, increasing your heating bills. If it develops a fault, finding replacement parts for older boilers becomes much more difficult.

But why the summer?

Because we aren't using the central heating as much at that time of year, it's an ideal time to schedule a boiler service or replacement.

Why replace a boiler during the summer?

During the summer, your boiler is probably the last thing on your mind. That, however, should not be the case. And there are a few reasons for this...

Heating engineers are less in demand during the summer.

Heating engineers have some of the busiest months during the winter. At that time of year, they have a lot on their plates, from rushing to fix breakdowns to thawing frozen pipes.

So make the most of the quieter months. You're more likely to get an appointment at a time that works for you, and you'll have more time to shop around and compare quotes from different installers.

 You'll stay warm.

When your boiler is replaced during the winter, you will be without heat for 1-3 days.

That is not what you want. You should be able to stay warm and avoid major disruptions to your daily life if the work is completed during the summer months.

 Allow yourself plenty of time.

During the winter, many people rush to have their boiler replaced. Especially if it has been broken down.

You can research boiler types and brands if you plan ahead and have your boiler installed in the summer. Increasing your chances of finding the ideal low-cost boiler.

There is less chance of a winter breakdown.

If you wait until your boiler fails to replace, you may find yourself with a broken boiler in the dead of winter. This could mean calling a plumber for emergency work at an inconvenient time, and even paying significantly more!

By replacing your boiler in the summer, or even simply having it serviced, you reduce the likelihood of a boiler breakdown during the colder months.

You'll be prepared to save money on winter bills.

During the winter, a new boiler will be far more efficient. In addition, an efficient boiler will reduce your heating bills.

All boilers installed in UK homes must now be condensing. Condensing boilers are equipped with a Flue Gas Heat Recovery system, which allows them to capture more heat. In comparison, non-condensing boilers allow a lot of heat to escape through the flue pipe.

Condensing boilers have at least 92% efficiency. That means that for every £1 spent on home heating, only 8p is wasted. When compared to an older boiler with an efficiency of around 70%, you'll save a lot of money over the course of a year. In fact, you could save up to £365*.
